What you can gain, learn, and build at Ueda Dojo

1.The joy of challenging new and difficult things and pushing your limits

Learn and challenge your own limits to become your ideal self. We empower our members to build the courage to take action not only in karate but also in life outside of the dojo. Believing in the potential of each individual, we help you achieve your goals--whether it’s goals like winning a tournament or earning a black belt or personal areas of self-improvement, such as strengthening your body/mind and improving your concentration--regardless of your age or years of experience.

2.Strength of the mind and body

Through daily training, the mind and body will become stronger and healthier. By facing our own physical/psychological limitations and continually aiming to improve our mind, body, and spirit beyond and despite these limitations, we can work together to develop true, inner strength, which helps people survive their greatest trials.

3.A “lifelong focus”

The goal of Ueda Dojo is “lifetime karate.” It is a place where you can, through pursuing different karate goals, learn to develop your own beliefs and approaches. By coming to understand your own strengths and finding ways to face shortcomings, you will build your own values and develop your personal “core.”

4.Character and humility to connect with others in society

Through interactions with people of various walks of life, we train many of the qualities that are important in interacting with others, such as courtesy, thoughtfulness, and various means of self-expression. Through constantly communicating with, learning from, and even looking after teachers, seniors, and juniors, we develop virtues such as gratitude, respect, consideration, empathy, etc.

5.International mindset and diverse perspectives

Through cross-cultural exchange with students from over 200 countries that are members of the Japan Karate Association, students not only learn the language, culture, and values of other countries but also reflect on their own country and themselves to develop broad perspectives that are not bound by stereotypes.
